LIVE IN MATM APR 2014 IN MUNICH & ZURICH

Isn’t the music business astounding? Some artists shoot to the top of the charts in no time (rightfully – or wrongfully), some will always stay an insider tip. It doesn’t mean their music has less quality.

This is most definitely the case with Wild Beasts: the band has existed for over ten years. It would be exaggerated to say that the musicians around lead singer Hayden Thorpe are disregarded by the general public, they do play in clubs of medium size. Wild Beasts don’t mind playing their wonderful indie-dream-pop for audiences of 200. The bubbling bass, the synth sounding a little 80s, the magnificent, broken and melancholic songs and this extraordinary voice that reminds you of Jimmy Somerville, Bronski Beat and of the most engaging moments of “old” british pop – a little politics doesn’t harm anyone.

“They’re solemn in their wealth

We’re high in our poverty

We see the things they’ll never see”

In the end being an insider is what makes this band exciting for music lovers. Maybe it even makes them lucky, because what is better than grand music on small stages.

In mid-April Wild Beast will take a quick trip to the Alpine region, playing at the Strom in Munich on April 9th and the Plaza in Zurich on April 12th. Played on a spring night, their music sounds especially nice.
