LIVE IN MUNICH
OCT 10TH AT PHILHARMONIE
Munich is a town that puts some pride in its cultural scene. And in its great architecture. The Gasteig however, Munich’s brick-stone-built cultural temple from the 1970s is a source of constant frowns. Too old, bad acoustics, the complains repeat. Over and over again. Well, there have to be some problems to fill the newspapers, right?
But in the end all of this is paper waste. The proof follows soonish: When this young woman enters the stage of Munich’s Philharmonie (located in Gasteig) on October 10th, all acoustical concerns will be quickly forgotten. For sure. On October 10th, Agnes Obel pays Munich a visit.
If the notes at the limits of the human ear will sparkle cristal-clear (or just “clear”), will be of no interest in the case of the Danish singer and pianist. When Obel takes her seat at the piano and sings the songs of her beautiful and unpretentious album “Aventine”, the longing for complaints diminishes quickly. What remains is an inevitable dive into Obels deep and haunting music.
Agnes Obel’s furthermost strength is intensity. Voice and instrument begin to sound and the space around her seems to concentrate with a silent buzz – all thoughts absorbed into here and now. Dissolved in careful keystrokes and words about the hidden thoughts of a young woman. Fascinating. All the same for audiophiles. And just the more for the rest of you music lovers.
Those who do not want to miss this quiet spectacle, can win two tickets right here and now: MATM is giving away 1×2 tickets for Agnes Obels appearance in Munich. Just send an e-mail to email@example.com by Oct 6th, 2014 5pm with the subject line “Smoke & Mirrors”. The winner is gonna be notified!
