A FESTIVAL FOR THE GOOD, YOUNG AT HEART RADIO
APRIL 26, 2014 IN MUNICH
Well then, a song of praise on the radio? In 2014. In times of streams, podcasts, Youtube, Facebook shares and MP3 collections? How ridiculous!
But then again, there are a few exceptions – there are just certain radio frequencies that young people do like to receive (yes, not just in Austria;). What a relief it is when the ‘right’ kind of people run a radio show. What a gift. Someone actually spend time thinking, thinking about the world out there, manually selecting just the right kind of songs to fit with it – something hardly any logarithm successfully can do. Especially in times of the internet one thing has never been more true: It is impossible to know everything. But the experts at Zündfunk always have good tips up their sleeves.
In 2014, a show with such experts is celebrating its 40th birthday: Zündfunk by the Bavarian broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk. Zündfunk is a gem on the Southern German radio. Its editorial team has been doing the right things the right way for a long time. At night, they are literally giving out presents by the hour: collecting and arranging the right genres wrapped up with commentaries, introductions, fine music and night time mixes. The editorial’s last service to mankind. Thank you. You deserve much praise – and a song! This is radio that warms your ears and brains. Hopefully, it will be there for a long time to come.
Let me add: The combination, arrangement, thoughts and selection are not the only last service of the editorial team: For their 40th anniversary, Munich based Zündfunk is taking on another major project. Das Fest, a concert evening in the cozy vintage atmosphere of the broadcaster BR’s studio. One more thing the ladies and gentlemen of Zündfunk combined and arranged superbly.
The line-up: The British-Austrian electronica-miracle SOHN, the great duo Painted Palms from San Francisco, the ethereal indie sensation Glass Animals and Munich’s illustrious loop-sound talent Joashino. As headliner, Zündfunk hired a grand dame who spent most of the last 40 years on the world’s most popular stages: Neneh Cherry. Other performing artists include Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and Kofelgschroa with their fresh interpretation of alpine sounds.
Take a look at “Disappearing Friend” by Joasihno, filmed at Schliersee, one of our favorite mountain lakes. Followed by “The Wheel” by Viennese by choice SOHN.
Tickets are available at all ticket offices for 29.50€ (+ advance booking fee) or directly at Münchenticket.
MATM is giving away two tickets for fans of the good, young-at-heart radio. Simply write us an email with the subject “Zündfunk“ to firstname.lastname@example.org until April 25, 6pm. With a little luck, the two tickets will be yours.
