When the Vigilius Mountain Resort opened in 2000, it was the first design hotel in South Tyrol.  Its slogan “arrive, let go and be happy ” still resonates throughout the resort today.

Located at 1,500 meters and only reachable by cable car, the architect Matteo Thun has created a “secret hideout in the woods”, which blends perfectly with its larch wood facade in the nature reserve of Vigiljoch.

A spectacularly simple exterior meets spacious premises: Light-filled corridors with wooden sculptures by Japanese artist Hideki Iinuma guide to the 35 clear and uncluttered rooms and six suites, the gourmet restaurant ‘1500’, the rustic lounge Ida and the unique mountain spa, the best we know.

There you can drift in a sole spring water pool overlooking the larches, start the day with yoga and replenish your energy with Shiatsu or a hay bath. The floors are warm wood, the stairs of silver quartz, everywhere open fire places and in the library awaits with classic films that you can watch either in the lounge or in your own room – and no matter whether you are in your bed or the bathtub, the view is always into nature: The Etsch valley, the surrounding mountains and the Dolomites in the distance. A wonderful feeling of infinity.
