From the parking lot it’s a good 15min walk on a narrow forest path. And when you finally see the Pragser Wildsee your breath is guaranteed to be taken: turquoise waters, surrounded by dark green forests and the mighty rock walls of the surrounding mountains, which seem to fall into the water quite dramatically.
It’s no wonder that the Pragser Wildsee is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. It’s located in the Pragser valley between Felsberg and Niederdorf branching off from the Puster Valley.
From here you can take numerous mountain hikes in the surroundings, hike the Dolomites high route no. 1 and enjoy breathtaking views of the lake from above. If you would rather take it easier, you can walk the 3.5 kilometers around the lake or borrow one of the historic rowing boats and enjoy the mountain scenery from the water.
In summer you can also take a dip into the cold water, which is really quite cold. After all, the Pragser Wildsee is up to 36 meters deep and lies in the shadow of tall mountains. But one thing is guaranteed: crystal clear water, that you rarely finds these days.
If you are short on time, drive to the historic Hotel Prager Wildsee (St. Veit 27 , 39030 Prags), which is located on the shore, and enjoy the panorama from there.
